ANUSCHKA PEDANO, VIOLA

Anuschka Pedano (2000) is a young, highly versatile violist whose heart was captivated at an early age by the beautiful, warm sound of the viola.
She has won first prizes in various (international) competitions, including the Britten Viola Competition, the Concours Européen pour Jeunes Solistes, and the Prinses Christina Competition. In addition to receiving the Classic Young Masters Award, she was a finalist in the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Competition.
Since 2016, Anuschka has been a member of the international string orchestra LGT Young Soloists in Zurich, where she has performed as a soloist in leading concert halls across Europe, America, and Asia. With this ensemble, she has recorded two works on CD: Serenade for Viola and Orchestra by Edvard Fliflet Braein and her beloved Romanze by Max Bruch. The latter CD, titled Souvenir, was released in 2019 under Sony’s Red Seal Label.
Anuschka is a frequent guest at renowned classical music festivals such as Wonderfeel Festival, the Grachtenfestival, Klassiek op het Amstelveld, the Russian chamber music festival Winteravonden aan de Amstel, and the International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog. She has also performed at international festivals such as Vocal Art Rhein-Main in Frankfurt, “Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn” in France, and the Spivakov Festival in Moscow. In 2023, she was invited by the Tolima Conservatory to give recitals and masterclasses for talented Colombian students.
As a soloist, she has performed in major concert venues, including De Doelen in Rotterdam, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and Victoria Hall in Singapore. She has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as the Royal Netherlands Marine Band, Domestica Rotterdam, Ciconia Consort, and Sinfonia Rotterdam under the direction of Conrad van Alphen, alongside Russian violinist Nikita Boriso-Glebsky.
In addition to her solo and orchestral activities, Anuschka is a passionate chamber musician and has worked with inspiring artists such as the members of Quatuor Arod, Jérôme Pernoo, Joel von Lerber, Kai Strobel, Maria Milstein, Matthieu van Bellen, Bruno Philippe, Eva Zavaro, and Lucas Debargue.
In recent years, Anuschka has been a frequent guest on the television program Podium Witteman, where she shared her passion for the viola and music with a broader audience.
Anuschka is currently studying with Nobuko Imai at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She has taken lessons with esteemed teachers such as Michael Kugel and Julia Dinerstein and has participated in masterclasses with Jürgen Kussmaul, Alexander Pavlovsky, Michael Zemtsov, Sven Arne Tepl, and Daniël Rowland.
The viola Anuschka plays is a magnificent instrument built by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (Paris, 1864), generously provided by the National Musical Instruments Foundation.
